Welcome to IA’s dedicated webpage for the 3rd Annual FAASTeam Safety Stand Down. This event, sponsored by your FAASTeam members, is intended to provide aviation safety in a fun and interactive way.
This year’s event is sponsored by Independence Aviation, Cirrus Aircraft, The Ramada Hotel & Suites, The Pilot Shop and Denver jetCenter.
Stand Down Program Description and Activities
This year’s emphasis is on Loss of Control – Inflight (LOC-I) which continues to be the largest cause of general aviation accidents. We are discussing ways to manage risk, have better decision making, and discuss ways of regaining control. There are three seminars included in the Stand Down. They are
- Going Beyond Your Preflight Checklist
- Decision Making – Make Yours Better and Faster
- Loss of Control – How to Recover
Experienced aviation educators will be teaching these seminars with their own fresh perspective on each aspect of safety.
Pilots who attend all three seminars will receive three (3) WINGS program credits. Sorry, we’re unable to give any partial credit, but don’t let that keep you from attending a seminar that interests you.
- Spring Weather Hazards Seminar
- Learn to Fly Seminars Download Flyer
- Open House activities Download Flyer
- Demonstration Flights
Pilots who attend the Weather Hazards seminar will receive two (2) WINGS program credits.
The Learn to Fly seminars are intended for folks who are interested in flying but don’t know what’s involved or how to get started. We will offer two seminars and follow them up with tours of Independence Aviation facilities and aircraft.
For those seriously interested in starting their flight training, we offer discovery/demonstration flight lessons in a new Cirrus SR20 Perspective (entering the IA fleet in late-Spring) and our fun PiperSport Light Sport Aircraft.
